IASC 1st DIVISION OPENS WITH SHOCK RESULT

The Inter Amateur Soccer Competition season got underway yesterday with three matches from the 1st Division.

Last year's champions Senglea Youngsters faced an early setback in their quest to hold on to the title when they suffered a shock defeat at the hands of newly promoted Luqa Juniors, going down 2-0. On the other hand, their neighbours Cospicua St Thomas had the better of Zurrieq Wolves, defeating them by a solitary goal in what was forecasted to be the most balanced game of the day. The other match saw Floriana Ajax take on Mosta Gunners, with the Greens having a flying start to their season when they beat their opponents 2-0. Birzebbugia Tigers' debut in the 1st Division will be in two weeks' time when they encounter Floriana Ajax.
