ALL SET FOR TIGERS' DEBUT

Next Sunday, 16th October 2005 at 09:45, Birzebbugia Tigers will make their debut in the 1st Division of the Inter Amateur Soccer Competition with a clash against Floriana Ajax.

Under the helm of german coach Stefan Schwienbacher, the boys in orange will try to improve on last year's standings, when they finished mid-table and without any silverware won. This will be the first game of Schwienbacher in charge of the team, after donning the Tigers' shirt for 52 times. Moreover, this will be the second time that the Tigers mark their debut against Floriana Ajax, after the 3-2 win in the first match of the 2003/04 season. For the record, this will be the eight encounter against Floriana Ajax in the history of our club, with the Tigers clearly gaining head over the opponents with 5 wins, 1 draw, and only one defeat.

Sta Lucia ground will again host all matches scheduled by this association. The league format, unique in the world of modern football, see nine teams battle through only one round of matches, gaining only two points for a win, a system now obsolete from all world-wide football. The concept of modernisation did not find place within the walls of this association as the participating teams have only a meagre eight games on which to balance and risk their fortunes, making this league one of the shortest to be played around the globe.
